What We Like About Cover My Events Special Events Insurance

  • Waiver of Subrogation is included in their Gold and Platinum packages
  • The Platinum package includes increased general liability limits of $2M/$4M (occurrence/aggregate)
  • Pricing was easy to find and the prices seems to cover up to 3 days, however… (see below of what we didn’t like)

What We Didn’t Like About Cover My Events Special Event Insurance

  • Expensive!! Lowest price available is $175 and it doesn’t include Waiver of Subrogation
  • $1,000 deductible
  • Unclear which states they can write business in
  • The general purchase process is confusing in that you get a price upfront and then provide event details like group size afterwards (we were able to enter “99999” and it let us proceed) – Group size is usually a big determining factor in the price
    • If there is indeed no limit to group size then Cover My Events is an amazing deal for events with a group size larger than 1,000 people
  • Says Waiver of Subrogation is included for the Gold and Platinum packages, but there’s no mention or Primary Noncontributory endorsement

WordPress?

It’s the first time we’ve seen an insurer/producer use WordPress for their online sales infrastructure. The shopping cart and Stripe plugins makes the purchase process feel more like an e-commerce store than an insurance purchase. And it’s unclear if a policy is issued in real time like most of the competitors or if there’s further steps/correspondence after purchase.

Bold Claims

We highly question their claim that they “…know all the venues that require wedding insurance in America.” We don’t see how this is possible, especially with new venues being launched all the time across the country.

In our opinion, the site has a lot of fluff and doesn’t provide some of the most basic information like sample certificates and refund policy.
